Advanced - Further Mathematics

EXAM BOARD: EDEXCEL

AIMS
The Advanced GCE in Further Mathematics builds on the skills, knowledge and understanding from GCSE and A-Level. Further Maths is a whole additional A Level, so completing Maths and Further Maths will account for two separate qualifications.
While A-Level Maths covers a wide range of mathematical topics, A-Level Further Maths takes students on a deeper exploration and examination of mathematical concepts, providing a more rigorous and comprehensive understanding. It is designed for students who have a strong interest and aptitude in mathematics and wish to further develop their skills in this subject.

COURSE SUMMARY
The A level in Further Mathematics consists of four externally examined papers.
Students must take Paper 1 and Paper 2, the two mandatory Core Pure papers, and two optional papers.
Students are permitted to take more than the two optional papers if they want to extend their course of study.
Each paper is:

1 hour and 30 minutes written examination

25% of the qualification

Further Maths topics include:
Proof, Complex numbers, Matrices, Further algebra and functions, Further calculus, Further vectors, Polar coordinates, Hyperbolic functions, Differential equations.
