Student Leadership

Overview

At St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School we realise the importance of giving students a voice to drive engagement in the curriculum, extra-curricular activities and the wider community. We are proud to be offering the following roles for students over the course of this academic year:

School Council – Representatives from each year group meet together as the central point of student voice across the school. Meetings are held once every half term, with each representative responsible to ensure their year group’s voice is heard – gathering views on a number of key topics by accessing online student voice forms, use of a student suggestion box and presenting on topics in form time and assembly.

Prefects – 40 prefects in Year 11 are appointed to demonstrate excellent leadership skills during duties at break and lunchtime and leading on activities such as homework club. These students are overseen by 10 senior prefects from Year 12, who lead the prefect group.
***THIS ROLE HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED DUE TO STUDENTS BEING UNABLE TO MIX YEAR GROUPS AT SOCIAL TIME.

Sixth Form Leadership Team – This is led by the Head Boy and Girl and their deputies and includes specialist roles for Wellbeing, Fundraising, Spiritual Life and Sports Captains. This team meets once a week, helps to lead School Council and produces half termly newsletter promoting key student issues and running events and competitions.
