Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition – Shropshire Hills
On the weekend of the 16th June, twenty-one Year 10 students completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh assessment expedition in the beautiful surroundings of the Shropshire hills. The expedition was the culmination of many months’ commitment and preparation. Over the course of the three days, students became completely self-sufficient, navigating their way round their routes, cooking their meals and setting up camp.
Despite the extreme heat, every student showed great resilience and determination whilst maintaining a positive outlook. It was a complete privilege witnessing our students showing great maturity as they supported each other through some very challenging conditions.
Throughout the weekend, students were praised by the campsite owners and staff for their excellent behaviour and it was a pleasure to lead such an exceptional group of young people on expedition. They should be proud of all that they achieved and are a real credit to the school.
The success of the expedition would not have been possible without the help of a team of dedicated staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes and give up so much of their time to support the DofE programme. Thank you to Miss Jones, Mr Walton, Mr Robinson, Mr Miastowski, Mr Nolan, Mr Howes and Mr Tinsley for supporting the Silver DofE award.
We now look forward to the assessment presentations.
