School Day

Before School

Students will be expected to arrive at school in either their full winter school uniform or PE kit (if they have a PE lesson that day). They will also be expected to bring their full pencil case along with their exercise books and Knowledge Organisers for the day. When arriving on site, students are expected to wash their hands at one of the many hand-washing stations situated around school.

Line Up

A typical school day will see students beginning with AM lineup in the playground. After assembling in their tutor groups, they then proceed in silence behind their form tutor to their respective classrooms.

Morning Registration

After the tutor has completed the morning register, students will receive important notices and tutors will check students are fully equipped and ready to learn. Years 7, 8 & 9 will also read from a designated book as part of the 'Aquinas Canon'. At the end of registration, students pray with their form tutors before proceeding on to their first lessons of the day.

Morning Lessons - Period 1 & 2

After morning registration, Knowledge Organiser, exercise book and pencil case in hand, proceed to their first two lessons of the day. At the start of every lesson, they are greeted by their teachers before being asked to sit down. 

1st Lunch

All students receive two breaks in the day. Lunches are split into two sittings to allow for an efficient service and adequate space for all students. 
During "1st lunch", years 10,11, 12 & 13 will be allowed the opportunity of receiving a hot meal cooked by our canteen staff.
At the end of 1st lunch, Years 10 and 11 will line-up in their class group and proceed to their next lesson, led by their teacher, in a straight and silent line.

Afternoon Lessons

After being escorted from their line-up zone by their teacher, students will then proceed with their 4th lesson of the day before being released and moving to their 5th and final lesson of the day.

2nd Lunch

During 2nd lunch, years 7, 8 and 9 will receive their opportunity for a hot meal prepared by our canteen staff.  As with 1st Lunch, students in years 7, 8 and 9 will complete 2nd lunch by lining up in their groups before being escorted to period 5 by their teacher.

Afternoon Lessons - Period 5

After being escorted from their line-up zone by their teacher, students will then proceed with their 5th & final lesson of the day.

PM Registration

After completing their final lesson of the day, students will proceed back to their tutor bases for afternoon registration. During this period, their tutor will lead prayer through our Examen format which asks or students to be still and think about their day.  Staff will regularly ask about the Golden Tickets awarded but will also confirm details of any consequences incurred during the day. Those with consequences will then be escorted to the detention queue. Those without consequences will be expected to leave the school site and make their way home as quickly as possible.
